The festival starts from the last few days of last month of Rakhain calendar- Taborthi and continues to a few new days of the first month of the Rakhain calendar-Tankho. On the first day of the festival, people come out to the street on a procession which leads them to the Temple (kang). Each para (area) brings out their own procession. People wear new colorful dresses which put the festival on a colorful mood. They wash the statue of Buddha and offer various kinds of foods to him. A band of musicians play musical instruments at the back of the procession. On the following day, the long awaited water game takes place. For this game, pavilions are built on play grounds or open space which are decorated with colorful flowers and balloons. Young Rakhain plays the water game all the day long.
