Branding Bangladesh in Tourism

Fishing is A great thing to enjoy. It is a profession for a large number of people in Bangladesh. As Bangladesh is a land of river, people who live near the bank of the rivers, naturally choose fishing as their profession. They contribute to the source of protein of the mass people. Fishing sometimes is the main event of a festival. One such festival is Polobawa festival.

Polobawa Festival is held at the village Goahari of the Upazila Biswanath at Sylhet district. The event is organized in winter when the Bils (brook) are dried. On the occasion of this festival, people from the surrounded villages come with Polo (an instrument for catching fish) to catch fish at Barobil. It’s a 200 years old festival where migrated people also come from abroad to join the festival. The event starts from 11am and ends at 1pm. People catch various kinds of fishes which they celebrate with lots of enthusiasm and enjoyment.
