A unique incident has made the Bangalees valiant to hold their mother language at the highest place. The Bangalee remember the language martyrs through many programs through out the month of February. Ekushey book fair, which started at a small form organized by Muktodhara publication house in front of Bangla Academy on 1972, has turned out to be the biggest book fair in the country. As day passed, publication houses from all over the country began to come to the fair to make it larger and larger. Now, it is the most popular fair in the country.

The book fair of Ekushey begins on the first day of February and it lasts for almost one month. It is held inside the Bangla Academy. Stalls are built to give the publication houses space to sell their books. Through the last decades after the Liberation War, Ekushey Book Fair has been able to make an impact over the civilized society of the nation. Every year, thousands of books are published from different publications. A stage is also installed at the premise, where meetings, recitation programs, musical programs are arranged every day. People from different places of the country wait for the Ekushey Book Fair to buy books. Writers, Poet, Dramatist and other people from the civilized society of the country get the chance to exchange their views during the fair. Ekushey Book Fair has become a spirit of Bangalee culture making the literature more vivacious day by day.
