Branding Bangladesh in Tourism

Bauls are the followers of Sufism who mainly focus on the creation, society, human emotion, religion and so on related to humanity. Baul songs were influentially introduced by Lalon in Bangladesh. With the greater impact of this type of song among the mass people, it has become an enriched genre in Bangla music. Shah Abdul Karim has come up with his thoughts through his versatile genius in Baul song, from a remote area of Bangladesh producing the feeling of humanity among the people around his birthplace Sunamganj. He has composed almost 1600 songs which are written in six books. Baul Karim is the living legend in Baul community who has always tried to bring harmony in the curvy thread of class in the society.

Every year, a festival is held at Baul Karim’s birthplace Dirai, Sunamgang, paying respect to his vivacious musical work during the month of April. Bauls from different places of the country gather here to share their expression through the musical tone of Ektara.
