Satkhira is situated on the south-west side of the Bangladesh. There is a say that, the son of Binchuram named Pananth brought Sat ghor kulin Brammon in his area and settled with all facilities. From That “Sat ghor” we got “Sat Ghoria” and after rotation of time it changed into “Satkhira”.

According to the academic statistics (2005): Satkhira has Primary school-1106 , Highschool-278 , College-42 & Madrasha-167.

Satkhira enriched in rivers as Betna, Chunar, Raymongol, Aarpangsa, Satkhira Maloncho, Kalindi, Horinvanga etc.

Satkhira is enriched with historical & sightseeing spots such as the Sundorban, South Talpotti etc.

Satkhira is also famous for some great personage as Sikandar Abu Jafar,Golam Moin Uddin, Kazi Reza, Afzal Hossain, Alhaz Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah, Professor Hassan Ali, Educationist Ashok Kumar Bosh, Educationist Gobinda Das, and many others
