Comilla is an ancient and traditional district in Bangladesh. There is a say that “Comilla” comes from Kamlangkonagar. It was heard that when Hossain Shah ruled “Gour”, in that time it was named “Komilla” and after that by the rotation of time it was named ”Comilla”.

According to the Academic Stastics (2005) Comilla has Primary school-1957 , Highschool-568, College-119 & Madrasha-371.

Comilla has some rivers like the Meghna, the Gomti, the Choto Feni etc.

Comilla is enriched with historical spots such as Boro Sharifpur Mosque, Rural Development Center, Ruins of Budhdhist Civilization, Botanical Garden, War Cemetery, Moynamoti Hills, Salbon Bihar, Bakhrabad Gas Field etc.
