Natore is situated in Rajshahi Division at the northern region of the country. It has two historical places where you can learn the past of Bangladeshi culture. The first one is the Dighapatiya Rajbari. Ramjivan who is considered as the founder of the Raj was the force behind building this Rajbari. It was built very colorfully and the design was similar to other feudal palaces of Bangladesh; a long boulevard to the palace along with rows of bottle palms, and the palace complex was bordered by two circles of self-protective moats for security, which are still evident. During the British rule, the palace was under the authority of a Jaminder named Rani Bhabani. She also developed this palace for her comfort.

Second historical place of Natore is also a palace. It’s now used as the official resident of the President of Bangladesh for northern region and called Uttara Gonobhaban. It’s surrounded by magnificently structured garden with charismatic sculptures. The design of the Palace is captivating and furnished with remarkable relics, stunning paintings, deluxe furniture, sophisticated trimmings and stained glass windows. To explore this Palace you have to have prior permission.

If you are into historical places rather you like nature there is a place for you in Natore. It’s Chalan Beel which is a natural junction for containing various streams of different rivers. It’s a natural haven for flora and fauna. There is array of frogs, toad, reptiles, mammals and birds. It is also a safe haven for the migratory birds.

You can go to Natore by direct bus from Dhaka and Rajshahi. It will take about 4 hours to reach there. As like other places of Bangladesh the main transport within the town is rickshaw. You can visit all the places by rickshaws but it is advised that before hiring any one first should negotiate and settle the fare.
